Previews use your browser's language and time zone (UTC). Each Discord user sees the same tag in their own time zone and language.
How to use the timestamp generator
Pick the date and time
Use the date and time pickers, or click Use current time.
Set the time zone
Choose the time zone your date and time are in. It starts on your own, so for "8 PM my time" you don't need to change anything.
Choose a format
Each row shows a format and how it looks to you. Readers see the same moment in their own time zone and language.
Copy the tag
Click Copy next to the format you want and paste it into any Discord message, embed or event description.
How Discord timestamps work
Discord timestamps are written as <t:UNIX:STYLE>. UNIX is the number of seconds since 1 January 1970 UTC, and STYLE is an optional letter that sets the format. Discord renders the tag in each reader's time zone and language, so a raid at <t:1798761600:t> shows as 00:00 in London and 7:00 PM the previous day in New York.
These are the styles in Discord's documentation:
| Style | Format | Example |
|---|---|---|
t | Short time | 16:20 |
T | Medium time | 16:20:30 |
d | Short date | 20/04/2021 |
D | Long date | April 20, 2021 |
f | Long date, short time (default) | April 20, 2021 at 16:20 |
F | Full date, short time | Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 16:20 |
s | Short date, short time | 20/04/2021, 16:20 |
S | Short date, medium time | 20/04/2021, 16:20:30 |
R | Relative time | 4 years ago |
The exact output depends on the reader's language settings, so 20/04/2021 may appear as 4/20/2021 for some people.

Frequently asked questions
How do Discord timestamps work?
A timestamp tag like <t:1798761600:F> holds a moment as a Unix timestamp in seconds. Discord replaces the tag with a formatted date shown in each reader's own time zone and language, so one message works for everyone.
What do the letters t, T, d, D, f, F, s, S and R mean?
They pick the format: t short time, T medium time with seconds, d short date, D long date, f long date with short time (the default), F full date with weekday, s short date and time, S short date with medium time, and R relative time such as "in 3 days".
What happens if I leave out the format letter?
<t:1798761600> uses the default f style, a long date with a short time.
Does the relative timestamp update by itself?
Yes. An R timestamp such as "in 2 hours" counts up or down live in the Discord client, which makes it handy for event countdowns.
Can bots and webhooks use timestamps?
Yes. The tag works in message text, embed descriptions and field values. Many bots also support placeholders for the current time; in Better Tickets it's {{now}}, so <t:{{now}}:R> shows when a message was sent. See the message variables.
