Ticket Tool alternative: Better Tickets vs. Ticket Tool

By Better Tickets Team · Last reviewed

Better Tickets is a Ticket Tool alternative for servers that want ticket claiming, support hours and staff applications included, and that would rather run tickets, applications, jail and leveling from one bot. Ticket Tool is the more established ticket bot, with thread-based tickets, a conditional automation editor and integrations, but several of those, and claiming itself, are Premium features. This page compares both honestly and shows how to switch.

Better Tickets vs. Ticket Tool at a glance

Facts about Ticket Tool come from its official documentation, checked on September 30, 2026. "Premium" marks features Ticket Tool's docs label as Premium-exclusive. Its claiming, automation, thread-ticket and Bloxlink documentation each identify those settings as Premium-only. Ticket Tool also puts some features behind Premium without labeling them in its docs, so a feature marked "Included" below may still need Premium; check its dashboard before you rely on it.

Where Ticket Tool is stronger

  • Maturity and familiarity. Ticket Tool is widely used, so many staff already know it.
  • Longer transcripts. Ticket Tool saves up to 1,000 messages per transcript; Better Tickets saves up to 400.
  • Thread tickets. If you want tickets as private threads rather than channels, Ticket Tool supports it (Premium). Better Tickets only creates channels.
  • Conditional automation. Its automation editor can trigger actions on message checks and events. Better Tickets covers the common cases (auto-close on silence or on leave) but has no general rule editor.
  • Bloxlink integration. Ticket Tool can add Roblox account details to tickets through Bloxlink (Premium).
  • Custom commands. Ticket Tool supports custom tag commands for canned replies.

Where Better Tickets is stronger

  • Claiming and schedules are included, along with auto-close.
  • Richer forms. Questions can be numbers, select menus, user, role or channel pickers, or file uploads, not just text.
  • Verifiable transcripts. Every transcript is signed, and anyone can check one with /verify.
  • One bot for more jobs. Staff applications, jail with auto-jail triggers, leveling and a message builder share one dashboard, so you run fewer bots.

Who each one is best for

  • Choose Ticket Tool if your team relies on thread tickets, conditional automations or the Bloxlink integration, and you're happy to pay for Premium.
  • Choose Better Tickets if you want claiming and schedules without a subscription, want intake forms with more than text, or want staff applications, jail and leveling handled by the same bot.

How to switch from Ticket Tool to Better Tickets

1

Invite Better Tickets

Invite the bot and open the dashboard. Keep Ticket Tool in the server for now.

2

Recreate each panel as a category

In Tickets → Panels, create a category for each Ticket Tool panel. Use the same support roles as staff roles and the same Discord channel category for new tickets.

3

Rebuild the questions

Recreate your form questions on the Questions tab. You can keep them as text, or switch some to select menus or role pickers now that you can.

4

Match your settings

Set the per-member ticket limit, transcript channel, schedule and auto-close to match what you had. See the ticket settings reference.

5

Post the new panel and test it

Send the panel with the message builder and open a test ticket from a non-staff account.

6

Retire the old panel

Delete Ticket Tool's panel message so members only see one way to open a ticket. Close any tickets still open in Ticket Tool before removing it.

Old transcripts stay wherever Ticket Tool stored them. Only new tickets go through Better Tickets.

Frequently asked questions

Is Better Tickets a good Ticket Tool alternative?

It is if you want ticket claiming, support hours and staff applications without paying, or want tickets, applications, jail and leveling in one bot. Ticket Tool is the better fit if you need thread-based tickets, its conditional automation editor or its Bloxlink integration, and are comfortable with Premium.

Is claiming free in Ticket Tool?

No. Ticket claiming requires Ticket Tool Premium. Claiming is included for every server in Better Tickets.

Can I move my Ticket Tool transcripts to Better Tickets?

No. Neither bot imports the other's transcripts. Old transcripts stay wherever Ticket Tool saved them; new tickets are archived by Better Tickets.

Can I run both bots while I switch?

Yes. Set up the new category and panel first, test it with staff, then remove Ticket Tool's panel so members only see one way to open a ticket.

How long does switching take?

For a server with one or two ticket categories, about 15 to 30 minutes: recreate each category, add its questions, and post a new panel.
